Cisco’s latest release of its new technologies and solutions enable Internet Protocol (IP) networks to become the platform for a new generation of video and rich media applications and services. This new class of technologies is designed to enable advanced communications, collaboration and entertainment experiences through video- and rich media-optimized service provider, business, and home networks, known as “medianets.” Databased communications are being replaced by video and rich media, which is straining the architectural foundations of public and private networks.

Cisco announced that the new Yankee Stadium, set to open April 2009, has been outfitted with state-of-the-art Cisco(R) technologies, giving New York Yankees fans the most wired, connected and video-enabled stadium in all of baseball. A new Cisco technology called Cisco StadiumVision(TM) will be central to the fan experience at the ballpark, providing fans with the most technologically advanced game-day experience in baseball, while maximizing the great historical tradition of the Yankees organization. Fans will be able to view sports news and scores, weather and traffic while never missing a moment of game action on the field.

Cisco Digital MediaCisco Systems Inc. has enhanced its digital signage product suite with the introduction of two new product offerings, Enterprise TV and the Cisco Digital Media Player 4400G. Enterprise TV (ETV) is a new interactive digital media application which provides on-demand video and broadcasts live TV channels over IP, with control through a simple on-screen menu programme guide. The DMP (Digital Media Player) is a hi-def player that supports MPEG-4/H.264 and Adobe Flash 9 and can combine live playback and on-demand video with up to 4 gigabytes of locally stored media.
